Fine Line Style
The
Fine Line Style, or Gong Bi, is very detailed. In this
style, a drawing of a painting is made with a very fine outline using
a tiny brush. Then color is applied and washed, showing variations in
value and saturation.
Generally,
many layers of color are used. The result is often a painting of
brilliant colors with many gradations.
Because
of the detailed work involved, it takes many, many hours to complete.
Gong Bi means "labored brush" which explains it. These
types of paintings are very beautiful.
